Animal trainers/domesticators: the original software engineers? They found ways to design “software” to put onto existing “hardware” that materially impacted human productivity. You’re not training your dog: you’re practicing “heirloom” software development 😂

Letter of recommendation for quarantine reading: Donna Haraway’s Cyborg Manifesto (1985). Nice reminder that radical politics and theory can embrace tech! Also DH is more prescient about tech and society than many biz/tech strategists of the time or even today..

Just.. so many questions. Do the gnomes know how to fix the current crisis? How much was their hourly consulting rate? Also most importantly, who was the acid dealer for this ad agency and can I please have their number.. “for a friend”

The wealth gap is growing: In 1968, a typical black household had $7K in wealth compared with $71K for the typical white household. In 2016, the typical black household had $13K in wealth versus $150K for the typical white household. We must demand economic justice. Now.

SF picked the right DA - “We find that, for the marginal defendant, nonprosecution of a nonviolent misdemeanor offense leads to large reductions in the likelihood of a new criminal complaint over the next two years.” nber.org/papers/w28600

eBike share is my fave travel mode but we *need* competitive providers in SF! $10 for a 2.5mi trip?!💸8x personal car costs and roughly as much as a regular Lyft?! 🤬 that. bike economics are tough but ridic prices discourage use of this fantastic mode. Help plz Jeffrey Tumlin 🏳️‍🌈?

The killer app of Web3 isn't an app: it's the new way apps will be built and interact via open data. An attempt to break down "Composable data" without technical jargon or a single mention of blockchain. mirror.xyz/0xBcfD8dDAc6B8…

Really looking forward to Amazon’s upcoming launch of SaaS: State as a Service! Complete with jobs program, food plan, and, as of today, healthcare. Perfect infrastructure for when Blue States secede from DeSantis 2024. Lockheed acquisition in 2023 to round out the feature set?

Has there been a Mother of All Demos for AI? Engelbart nailed so much of what was coming in the PC/early internet eras.. has anyone pulled everything together in a similar way for the AI era that seems to be fast approaching?

I’m yet to see an AI native social app that is interesting in multiplayer mode. There are many single player companion apps for loneliness etc. — but nothing cool yet that you can do with your friends. The best people in consumer social should spend time figuring this out.

I keep thinking about how AI is largely stuck in single player mode—its biggest strength and limitation. In the prior era of workplace productivity, broadly defined, the magic of products like Slack, Asana, Github, and Box came from using these tools to share and collaborate
