🧵I don't think there's a gate-keeping problem in academic [or other types of] publishing and I'm not really sure there is evidence out there that yt [predominantly] male authors are getting away with gross ethical violations in their 'research'/conduct. Here is my thread. 1/832

Comedians: if you’re not offending someone you’re not doing comedy right Mitch Hedberg: I think Bigfoot is blurry, that’s the problem. It’s not the photographers fault and that’s extra scary to me because there’s a large out of focus monster roaming the countryside

If you think abuse is "very rare" in academia then this most likely means none of the students trust you enough to tell you about it.

The Canadian leg of my recent flight required passengers to wear masks and they did. The US leg of the same trip (with many of the same ppl) did not require it and most didn’t. Reject the notion that public health must bend to what people will do anyway. It can lead.

Ponovo sam prso zbog Srpske #volimSmithse opozicije koja misli da se izbori dobijaju tako sto pisas po najsiromasnijijma i najbespomocnijima. Jebala vas kul muzika i gradzanstvo. Vidimo se pocetkom semestra a, nadam se, ni tad. Banite na predavanja.

Everyone going on about Fred Again like it’s bad that his parents are rich. This applies to a LOT of musicians. Past and present. Try not to let it blind you. Listen to his music instead. It’s absolutely shit.

Ne smemo zaboraviti da je Esma Redzepova usvojila i odgajila 47 dece. Ali se ne sme zaboraviti da joj ta deca nisu ni grob kako treba obelezila. LJUDI SU GOVNA.

Today’s #randompremodern card is by my favorite artist, who also happens to be doing a Magic singing today — her first in almost 10 years. If you’re in NYC, visit her gallery show between 3pm and 6pm today.

It finally happened, breaking 5 sigma, the same statistical threshold physicists used to prove the existence of the Higgs boson. At 2,700,000 km² below the 1991-2020 mean, Antarctic sea ice extent was 5.14σ below the mean, roughly a 1-in-7,400,000 chance.

A short 🧵for my English speaking friends: The exhibition I curated was open a few days ago in Novi Sad. "Gavrilo Princip and Young Bosnia: Photographs" I will share some of the photos here and will try to summarise why I think the exhibition is important.

It’s a bit weird that Oppenheimer felt so bad about Hiroshima and Nagasaki. He was literally working on designing, building, and testing a doomsday bomb! It’s really not that hard to figure out that it’s going to be ruinously bad for everyone??!
