Loving the outraged posts about Euston as the lobby journalists finally discover what happens when you try to leave London.

How the devil did Japan end up using 5-point scales sanely? I have a whole careful unpublished analysis of everything that goes wrong with 5-point rating systems; it hadn't occurred to me that any other country would end up using them sanely!

Every single time I open my "for you" tab, elon is in there somewhere. I plain refuse to believe there isn't a line of code in twitter's back end saying "give them more elon"

Any ethologists know of fun examples of times when it turns out the researchers were really measuring the animals' interactions with them/their equipment rather than real wild behaviour?

Eduardo Sampaio didn't expect to see an octopus punch a fish in the face. But when he did, it made perfect sense. On cooperative, and uncooperative, hunting. thetimes.com/article/e525ee…

I'm on a train of people commuting to london in peak time. Each of them must be on pretty decent hourly rates. At least 30 laptops open in this carriage. All probs working at half capacity because they can't get wifi. That costs more than the price of the ticket.

Tom Whipple It's bizarre. The wifi on Thameslink used to work perfectly. Now it almost never works. Does anyone have a good explanation for it?

Tom Whipple I remember thinking about this when I was in Iceland earlier this year. I had full reception in the middle of a glacier, yet the Reading to Manchester train last week was a no-go.

I don’t think having your mate’s son stay over for a few weeks because he needs somewhere quiet is in any way something out of the ordinary and it’s only because he declared it and assigned a random value to the accommodation that you are commenting
