I appreciate designers honoring user preferences w/ the `prefers-color-scheme` user query but not everyone who uses dark mode for system UI wants to read content online on a dark background! _Please_ provide a way to opt-out of dark mode if u apply it automatically like that. #UX

"Sure, type something as any and it'll fix it, the same way that taking the battery out of a smoke detector fixes a potential fire."

Made a little demo of a button with loading and confirmation states + status messages: codepen.io/smhigley/pen/G… (and link without codepen UI here: cdpn.io/smhigley/debug…) Tested with NVDA, JAWS, Narrator, VoiceOver, and Talkback :)

Can anyone recommend any front-end a11y / accessibility courses that cover anything from basics to advanced? #accessibility #a11y

Comparing the before/after of the MDN Web Docs redesign I really think it's a step back, at least visually… The old design's use of large headings set in Zilla Slab achieved both good readability and a strong brand identity. The new design looks like any random API docs…

Great article, never considered including race as I never wanted to draw attention to it. Learning about Tolu's experience with reading when growing up definitely opened my view on including race.

It's a great time to write CSS.🤩 Trying `text-wrap: balance` on my blog. It's still experimental (Chrome Canary) and will be stable in Chrome 113. This is such a useful enhancement 👌

Ignore the classes. This is the actual *markup* for a simple footer in a Tailwind UI template (and is not free). 10 years ago a DOM like this would have gotten you laughed out of a serious HTML/CSS dev shop. In the React/Tailwind era, no one blinks an eye.

Regardless of what accessibility conformance level you target, do not arbitrarily open links in a new window or tab. If you are required to do so anyway, inform users in text. Real text, not via icons, not with ARIA. adrianroselli.com/2020/02/link-t… #a11y #accessibility

I literally didn't know this until 20 minutes ago. You can dynamically assign properties to functions in TypeScript 🤯 Why is this possible?
