Happy Mother's Day!

BIG things are happening at our school! May is full of celebrations—come join us as we cheer on our amazing students. All celebrations are in the cafeteria unless noted.

What a joy to welcome our graduating seniors back for one final walk through the halls where it all began. They reconnected with former teachers, inspired younger students, and closed the chapter on their elementary school journey. We’re so proud of them!

Our Mental Health theme is COURAGE -being brave when facing fear or difficulty. Quote of the week from John Wayne, “Courage is being scared to death and saddling up anyway.” It is OK to be scared. But do not let that fear keep you from trying new things.

Mrs. Rasberry’s class wrapped up their volume unit with a creative twist—building animals out of boxes and calculating their volume. The classroom became a zoo where students, other classes, and even parents toured the exhibits and practiced measuring volume.

This National Police Week, we honor our amazing school officer for keeping Westwind safe, supported, and strong. Your presence means so much to our students, staff, and families. Thank you for your service and dedication!

Kindergarten had a blast at today's Fun in the Sun event! Parents joined the fun with hula hoops, kickball, bubbles, beach balls, snacks, and more. Laughter, sunshine, and sweet memories made it a day to remember. Thanks to everyone who came out and played!

Our GT students spent the year exploring Ancient Egypt and brought history to life for the whole school. They shared their amazing research and projects on mummies, pyramids, the Nile River, papyrus, obelisks, and more. Incredible work by our young Egyptologists!

Today, we celebrate our amazing speech therapists who empower students to find their voices and build confidence. Your dedication makes a lasting difference in the lives of our children—thank you for all you do!

Buddy Day is coming Wednesday, May 21—a fun PE day full of games, teamwork, and celebration! Parents are welcome to come watch, but younger siblings can't participate. Check with your child's teacher for what to wear or bring!

Tomorrow is the last day of school! We’ll dismiss early at 1:15 PM. To celebrate, we created a short video highlighting some of the awesome things we learned this year. Check it out and help us celebrate a great year of growth, learning, and fun!

THANK YOU so much, Alliance Credit Union, for supplying a delicious lunch for our teachers during this final week of school! Your generosity and support mean the world to us. What a wonderful way to help us close out the year feeling appreciated and full!

COURAGE is being brave when facing fear or difficulty. It is always important to not let worry keep us from trying something new. This week, your challenge is to think of three things you could do this summer that you have always wanted to do. Pick one and give it a try.

Tomorrow’s the last day of school! It’s been a year full of growth and memories, and we’ll miss our students over the summer. We’ll see you all in August—enjoy your summer adventures! Don’t forget, we’re out at 1:15 PM!

Happy Father’s Day to all the incredible dads and father figures in our school community. Thank you for your love, support, and all the big and little things you do every day. We hope your day is full of laughter, rest, and special moments with your family.

Teachers are at Westwind today, bringing the halls to life as they decorate for our new theme: Live and Love Lubbock! Principal Powell and Assistant Principal Kirk are greeting everyone with big smiles and warm welcomes. It’s going to be a fantastic year!
