A notable temperature gradient this morning. Now a steamy 13°C in Cornwall and yet it’s still freezing in parts of Gloucestershire. Warmer air pushing northwards through the morning, should see #uksnow turning to slush

For most inland areas, last night was the coldest the UK has seen for the past few years. For those who live in the very South West, you have several million people jealous people envious of you …

That’s more like it ☀️Temperatures across the South West climbing up in to the mid teens today, some spots perhaps likely to reach 18/19°C ! Similar again tomorrow

Evening all! It’s looking good with clear skies likely for tomorrow's partial solar eclipse, which peaks just after 11 am at around 25% coverage here in the SW. Be careful and use eclipse glasses or solar filter to look at it properly.

Promising signs for #aurora tonight if the geomagnetic activity remains this busy. If this lasts and the sky remains mostly clear, this could be a big one ! Our animated tracker gives a great animated picture as the evening develops : westweather.co.uk/aurora

Good morning. Parts of Somerset are currently down close to -7°C this morning with Gloucestershire & Dorset coming in a close second. Can’t see temperatures reaching much above freezing on this bitterly cold first Sunday in January.
