Another great night of training. Members took advantage of the warm weather (32deg) to complete pump operator training. New engine drivers are preparing for certification in preparation of our new recruits starting in April.

WVFR 23-01 Recruit Class completed Wildland Redcard Certification on 05/20. Getting ready for another busy summer season. Last year WVFR responded to 22 in district brush/wildland incidents and multiple mutual aid with outside agencies.

The L&C Rural Fire Council in conjunction with the USFS, BLM, DNRC and the Co. Fire Warden have agreed to close Debris Burning in L&Clark Co. beginning at 12:01am on July 1st, 2023 through August 31th at 11:59pm. This does not affect recreational fires less than 48” in diameter.

Debris Burning Closed in Lewis & Clark County from July 1st through August 31st. This does not affect recreational fires less than 48” in diameter.  The reasoning behind this is to reduce the number of human caused fires during the hottest period of the year.

Busy afternoon in the Valley. WVFR ran mutual aid to assist East Valley Fire for a residential structure fire. During the fire a vehicle fire occurred on I-15 at the top of the North Hills. 8 WVFR members responded and a couple of new members experienced their first fire.

The animals are on the move! Early morning hours last Thursday, WVFR dispatched for an Elk vs Box Truck causing the truck to catch fire on I-15 in the Sieben Flats area. Flowing fuel and contents of the truck created a dynamic fire.

Another crazy car fire Tuesday morning. Lincoln Rd and Applegate, unfortunate, although not a square-body, still a total loss of this '95 Dodge. No injuries reported. WVFR firefighters responded from Station 1 & 2 extinguishing the fire just as the school buses were going by.

WVFR dispatched Sunday morning to a house fire. Luckily the residents were able to evacuate. Attic well involved as first units arrived. Please check your smoke detectors and inspect & clean your chimney. Fires don't wait & neither should you to help protect your family.
