It doesn't just hurt to see the shooter's face in court. It hurts just as much when his face pops up on my TV and social media. I understand the need to use a photo during reports of the trial, but please try to limit that use. Think about who you're giving the power to.

1/ Journalists, as a species, generally despise being the subjects of the news. They’ve signed up to see their names in the bylines, not the headlines. But the events of June 28, 2018, gave the staff of the Capital Gazette no choice ti.me/36znvYa

The most important part for me was hearing the superintendent of the U.S. Naval Academy talk about The Wendi Winters Memorial Foundation heroism in front of a sea of new midshipmen, whom Wendi cared for dearly as a sponsor patent. Her story is one they will carry forward from their first day of service.

I think about Wendi, Rob, John, Gerald and Rebecca every day. What happened to me and my Capital Gazette family every day. It can be hard. It's always a bit brighter when I find that others also remember. This brick is at Jonas Green Park in Annapolis & was shown to me yesterday.

From a journalist with trauma to journalists who report on trauma. We need to do better. And when we do, journalism will be so much better for it. Thank you Poynter 💗poynter.org/business-work/…

Thank you, Andrea, for your stalwart and constructive advocacy in the face of such threats and attempts at intimidation. digitaledition.capitalgazette.com/infinity/artic… - 'We Will Not Comply' wants silence, not discussion

Our study of the trial of the man charged with killing five Capital Gazette staff members makes it clear that the Maryland Judiciary created an electronic filing system that flagrantly disregards standards designed to limit the use of secret documents. capitalgazette.com/opinion/our-sa…

Days after Alex Mann reveals Maryland courts have an electronic back door that allows indiscriminate secret court filings, judiciary admits there might be a problem. Public accountability. This is why community journalism matters. capitalgazette.com/news/crime/bs-…

Anne Arundel Community College Arts Council Campus Current This exhibit of Journalists Matter: Faces of the Cap-Gaz is meaningful to me because it coincides with the two year anniversary of tragic events of June 28.
