My first #semantle win (2nd time playing). A new obsession? I solved Semantle #74 in 124 guesses. My first word in the top 1000 was guess #11. My 84th guess had a similarity of 75.60...the closest word in similarity! BUT, I resorted to brainstorming with my husband for the win.

I'm mature enough to stop myself from hitting "reply all" and ending my career with an angry email. But I'm old enough that the thought of learning an entirely new grading platform by next year AND a new digital classroom platform the following makes me want to quit. #teaching

Teacher effectiveness is not greatly improved by curriculum, new programs, or initiatives. But, when teachers are respected, valued, supported, & feel like their talents are utilized, then morale increases, job satisfaction soars, & teachers are most effective!

Morale is a reflection of leadership. This means appreciating, encouraging, and praising staff. But, it also means having their back, going to bat for them, and supporting them whether it is with discipline or other issues. This is leadership at it's best!

Baby elephants typically don't learn to control their trunks until they're about a year old, which may result in behavior like this.

More food for thought on the impact of cellphones;but what I found most encouraging were the strategies for building students' in-person social skills.

Teacher scans classroom as students work quietly. One student looks up, smiles, and waves. That's definitely an admission of guilt. Teacher waves back anyway.

Me while my student teacher is teaching: "I noticed the text on slide 10 was a little wordy. Try to keep text minimal with engaging images." Me when I finally have to teach again and I've been doing this for 24 years: I know I have a slide for this somewhere..$%!Γ—. This is hard.

Note to future self: Don't grade assignments on Sunday night because it fills you with an existential dread that is not conducive to the start of a work week. This time might be better spent in denial. #teachertwitter
