April 17, 1963:
A violent, long-lived tornado tore through northeast Illinois and northwest Indiana. Per the SPC and NCDC databases, the F4 tracked for 57.3 miles. Thomas Grazulis documented near-F5 damage along the Illinois portion of the path. One person was killed.
