@jidebam I don’t have an authoritative source on this, but I suspect that reducing animation effort (i.e., saving time and money) is a factor many ubiquitous poses in anime. The “Gendou pose”, for the cost of a single frame of animation, neatly conveys a cold, mysterious authority figure
