It's cold out, but warm up safely! Heating equipment is a leading cause of home fire deaths. Keep anything that can burn at least three feet from heating equipment, never use an oven to heat your home, and test smoke alarms monthly. See more safety tips: ow.ly/W1LuP

It's time to spring forward this weekend! As you change your clocks, change your smoke alarm batteries, too. According to the NFPA, the risk of dying in reported home structure fires is 55% lower in homes w/ working smoke alarms than in homes w/ no alarms or none that worked.

On Friday, March 19, 2021, the #Waukee Fire Department responded to a structure fire at an apartment complex. It was a call that could have ended differently if not for the quick actions of an unknown citizen and the presence of a fire extinguisher. Story: bit.ly/3smQoBj

It's Daylight Saving Time this weekend! Be sure to fall back safely. When changing your clocks, it's also a perfect chance to test your smoke alarms and change replaceable batteries.

Every second counts in an emergency! You can help by removing any snow or ice from the fire hydrant near your house and clearing a path from the hydrant to the street. We appreciate your help!
