New work by Robert Warneke (inactive) : Bacteria have underground reservoirs of defensive mechanisms such as "sleeping beauty" amino acid exporters that they tap into only under stress. conditions! @unigoe 🤝@uniofnewcastle mBio journals.asm.org/doi/10.1128/mb…

In this work, @warnekerobert uncovers pathways of C3 amino acid uptake and export from Bacillus subtilis. Importantly, the work identifies AexA, the first sleeping beauty amino acid exporter. Jörg Stülke #mBio journals.asm.org/doi/10.1128/mb…

In our latest work, we discovered a novel metabolite in coenzyme A biosynthesis. This metabolite allows B. subtilis to grow independently from vitamin B5 and allowed us to create a mutant of an essential gene. I am grateful for this wonderful collaboration with @IFeussner lab!

Read our latest work about the c-di-AMP binding protein DarA in B. subtilis. This second messenger has still a lot of mysteries to offer and DarA seems to play a central role in osmoadaptation.

Robert Warneke (inactive) et al. from Uni Göttingen have elucidated vitamin B5 and coenzyme A biosyntheses in Bacillus subtilis. They have identified cysteinopantetheine, a novel hybrid metabolite that can fuel a salvage route to CoA. Jörg Stülke #mBio journals.asm.org/doi/10.1128/mb…
