Spotted these burn marks on the wall plate in Newark yesterday. Their location way above head height & right underneath the rafters indicates just how unlikely the conventional explanation of these as accidental candle burns is. Most of the ones you see of this design are very worn or corroded and Sam Moorhead (coin guru) always recommends if you can see too many legs it's probably "soldier spearing fallen horseman", sound advice as always

Heartwood, a series of tree prints, printed from a disc of the iconic Sycamore Gap tree, will be exhibited at Queen's Hall from today until 19 October. Created by Shona Branigan, the artworks are part of a National Trust programme of legacy work. โ„น๏ธ queenshall.co.uk/whats-on/heartโ€ฆ
