I find it weird that newspapers characterize students as being β€œpro-Palestinian” as opposed to anti whatever you call this.

Meanwhile in Atlanta we couldn't keep a couple of blocks of Peachtree as a shared space, even with some car lanes still intact. Mayor Dickens killed the program when it was in its pilot phase, turning it back into four lanes of car traffic.

We gotta grow up and act like a city.

People are complex multidimensional beings. We can exist in realities where more than one thing is true at the same time. Life is not a binary. Sometimes it's gray...

A few years ago I predicted that Atlanta, with it's penchant for tearing down buildings, would vigorously start defending parking as historic.

I hate being right sometimes.

Basically you want suburban-culdesac status for public streets in the city, near jobs and interstate exits. And you want it so you can easily drive everywhere in urban neighborhoods that have successfully blocked bike lanes and transit-supportive density.

ATLDOT is giving pedestrians more lead time when entering crosswalks at 25 new traffic signals across the city. Leading Pedestrian Intervals (LPIs) increase the visibility of pedestrians, meaning fewer conflicts between people in crosswalks and turning motorists.

We’re assured that Americans β€œlove” driving, β€œchoose” to drive everywhere. Then why is the state so worried that many of us would like alternatives that they won’t allow them to be studied or included in planning? This is state capture by the auto industry.

In the 1980s-90s, GDOT widened Atlanta's Downtown Connector from 6 through-lanes to 12, then ultimately to 14. But it's still congested.

It's tempting to focus on relieving this congestion or even hiding it from view. But don't. Instead focus on building less car-centric places.

Georgia is particularly well-poised to reduce carbon pollution through better urban planning ('better' meaning: less car dependent, more walkable), potentially eliminating 295 kg of CO2 per capita, annually, through land-use reform, per a recent analysis.

Having done my best to piss off a lot of people on this website one thing that stands out is how people who are accustomed to driving their car everywhere have never even really given car culture any thought.

Like, no part of it.
