Surreality of Khartoum. Totally empty streets. A homeless man sings alone amidst sounds of shelling and gun fighting. A stray dog comes along and sits besides him. He tries to comfort the dog by patting on him. #Sudan

I just called one of my aunties’ to give her condolences. Her cousin was killed by a sniper in Khartoum while attempting to evacuate 💔 I never met him. His wife & kids were on the bus while he was going to his car… #السودان_اشتباك_مسلح May He be granted eternal peace. #Sudan

MTN is completely out. Zain net & calls mostly out Sudani calls are out but net working for now. Servers are down cause no electricity in most, if not all, of Khartoum & generators running v short on diesel. If this continues the whole country will be in blackout.

Mom’s uncle just died. He was just talking to my mom about how he needs to get out of Sudan & can’t take the pain. His daughter killed by a stray the morning the war started. His wife also shot & is recovering from surgery. My mom just started his paperwork to bring him to Canada

on a more important note, my friends family was just stuck in the middle of violent clashes near to the borders of Ethiopia at Gondar while evacuating from Khartoum & needed to be escorted- might not be the safest evacuation route to take atm. #Sudan

idk what to mourn anymore, everything my grandparents & family have had to go through, not knowing if & when I’ll see them, our only homes being taken away? the homeless? everyone being left behind? the future? Sudan? Our revolution? احي يا قلبي

Azhar’s grandparents passed away alone and horrified in Khartoum as she was forced to beg helplessly for them to be saved. They haven’t even been able to give them a burial that would honour their lives & acknowledge their grief. This is a nightmare. We do not deserve this.

Some people left Sudan now and are never going back again even if it stabilises. Their children/grandchildren might not have any relation with Sudan. Generations & identities lost to greed. فرقتونا اكتر من ما نحن مفرقين

As the fighting in Sudan drags into a second month, Sudanese mothers are facing unimaginable difficulties giving birth. Power cuts mean that the handful of gynaecologists who remain in the capital, Khartoum, rely on mobile phone lights to carry out Caesarean sections.

I was at the argeen borders and spoke to the Red Cross medical team. They said that most cases they get from Sudani’s are intense hysteria attacks, trauma reactivity, flashbacks of ammunition/bombings & panic attacks - that all need sedation. #Sudan
