5 species of warbler this morning; blackcap, Cetti’s, chiffchaff, willow and my first garden warbler of the year at Woodwalton Marsh, which also had some great ant hills. 200 Fieldfare powering against a cold NE wind too.

Our ecologist & landscape architect James, attended the Manchester Metropolitan Uni Landscape Architecture degree show yesterday. James regularly helps tutor the students. This year the theme was “rural resilience” and students’ ideas included farm diversification, rewilding, recreation & energy

Nice to see cardboard tree guards at RSPB Dovestones today sheltering native broadleafs - if trees do need protecting this is a better way of doing it; without plastic. The canes looked like softwood, possibly from on-site felling work of larch and spruce..?
