Curlew Sandpipers DS photographed at Klongtamru Tamru salt pan Chonburi Thailand on Aug. 19 2022 by Suebsawat Sawat-Chuto. Curlew Sandpiper Orange DS was banded as an adult in January 2015 near Melbourne - now at least 9 years old! And this is first resighting!

New paper out detailing primary moult strategies in adult migrant waders (Charadrii) in Wader Study. 👉waderstudygroup.org/article/16435/ As Clive Minton was a key person in the professional lives of both Colin Jackson and Les Underhill, the authors have dedicated the paper to Clive.

A great "local" sighting - Red Knot AB photographed on Lord Howe Island on 14 Oct 2022 by @sydneybirding / Chris Rehberg. This bird was banded on April 2017 in Victoria. First resighting since then. @JorisJDR reckons it may be on its way to New Zealand!

A great summary of our efforts is outlined in the latest volume of the VWSG bulletin. Despite all the challenges we faced in 2021, we still managed to catch and flag 1267 birds, including 122 Sanderlings in collaboration with Glenelg Hopkins CMA. 👉 vwsg.org.au/wp-content/upl…
