As an IP attorney, where my biz is arguably ideas, I still disagree vehemently with this take. Ideas are easy compared to the real work of building a business. An operator will win over an ideator 100/100.

This is right. Startups need three tiers of info: 1) info that can be shared freely to sell you and your biz, 2) info under an NDA ONLY after you are on the 3rd+ date, and 3) info that is never shared even under NDA.

I love this quote. Don’t conflate the biz with your self worth. And know that the seeming “overnight success” of a founder is usually littered with failures.

Getting to manage this IP portfolio through exit was one of the coolest things I’ve gotten to do as an IP lawyer. Proud of these guys and our city.
