As an IP attorney, where my biz is arguably ideas, I still disagree vehemently with this take. Ideas are easy compared to the real work of building a business. An operator will win over an ideator 100/100.

Getting to manage this IP portfolio through exit was one of the coolest things I’ve gotten to do as an IP lawyer. Proud of these guys and our city.

Most situations don’t call for an “attack dog” lawyer. They call for a “relentlessly constructive problem solver” lawyer.

Running a company: 2020: can you survive a pandemic? 2021: still here? we’re going to give all of your competitors $100m series A rounds. 2022: wow, you made it? okay, all engineers cost $600,000/year now. 2023: nice job! okay, we’re going to take away your bank account.
