My favorite kinds of scientists are 1) Crazy enough to publish a paper where you give ecstasy to octopuses and study their social behavior 2) Detail-oriented enough to specify in the figure that 30 minutes is exactly 1800 seconds cell.com/current-biolog…

An overlooked aspect of becoming a scientist is realizing that you have a particular brand; a unique approach, an attraction to a certain kind of problem and a set of connections that you like to make. Uri calls it finding your internal tuning fork. podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/nig…

On Sundays as a trainee, to give my brain reprieve from the heavy papers read during the week, I used to relish reading Sydney Brenner’s essays -“ Loose ends”. Chanced upon one today - Jim Watson had given a lecture on “rules to succeed in science”. Here’s Brenner’s take on it 😃

Excerpt from my today's talk: "In science, discovery is only the first step, but validation is what makes it real. Without rigorous validation, even the most exciting results are just hypotheses waiting to be tested." #science #workmeet
