I cannot emphasize enough that this is what I mean when I say that tax cuts for the rich end up being paid for by everyone else. 25 years of tax giveaways to the top leads to billionaires like Musk turning around and saying, "we don't have enough money for Social Security."

Thank you to the DC transit workers, DC teachers, and DC firefighters showing up strong on the Hill this week to oppose slashing $1.1 billion from DC’s budget. These cuts won’t save the federal government money, but they will hurt our entire region.

As #PALeg gets back to work on a bipartisan #PaidLeave proposal, the #FamilyCareAct, let's review all the reasons paid family and medical leave will benefit workers, families, businesses, and the economy and make PA competitive with nearby NE states. cityandstatepa.com/opinion/2024/0…

The ongoing Mike Johnson/Freedom Caucus block on proxy voting for members of Congress who are dealing with pregnancy and postpartum care says everything you need to know about their views on women. Not surprising & depressing. axios.com/newsletters/ax… #axioshillleaders

Every justification they have for firing thousands of HHS employees is a lie—but the consequences that it will have on American lives will be very real.

The House Ways and Means tax bill released today is skewed in favor of rich people, is even more costly than the original 2017 law, and fails to deliver for working-class families and small businesses. A thread 🧵

The tax cuts will be partly offset by taking away/cutting food assistance, health coverage, income assistance, & college aid, making it harder for people to afford their basic needs and limiting opportunity.

The House Ag bill released tonight would take away or cut #SNAP food benefits for millions of low-income people struggling to afford groceries—families w/ children, seniors, ppl w/ disabilities, veterans & workers in low-wage jobs.

For each state & congressional district, we have estimates for how many people would be at risk of losing some or all of their food assistance due to this expansion of SNAP’s harsh work requirement to older adults & parents of school-aged kids. cbpp.org/research/food-…

There is not a single congressional district in the U.S. where more than 9% of voters support cuts to the home care that Medicaid covers.

Like Cole, my daughter Xiomara also relies on Medicaid to survive and thrive. So do millions of medically complex disabled children across the country. They are not numbers in a budget. Real lives are at stake. #NoMedicaidCuts #CareCantWait

Hey Jake Tapper 🦅, is there any timeline for reporting on Donald Trump's clear pattern of cognitive deterioration? I figured you'd be a great person to ask given that you've done so much research and reporting on this area of medicine.

.Governor Shapiro - Thank you for committing to addressing post-partum depression for #PA moms! Riding alongside PPD support should be #PaidLeave, which has been shown to improve maternal and infant health. The #FamilyCareAct is sitting in the House now. Please help get it done!

Gov. Josh Shapiro has a chance to make history by backing the Family Care Act—a bill that would make PA the first swing state with paid family and medical leave. 81% of voters (including 67% of GOP) support it, via Rachel West and Gayle Goldin. inquirer.com/opinion/commen…

The cost of child care runs up against other desires and needs people have when it comes to work, family, care, housing, savings, and more. The answer isn't "mom stays home" for most families though - even if they wanted to, they can't. axios.com/2025/05/24/chi… Child Care Aware of America
