Congratulation to Jack Elkes for winning the judges award for best poster at the Imperial Mental Health Research Network summer event. He presented his latest research using unsupervised cluster methods to identify groups of users from engagement data in a self-guided digital mental health intervention.👏

We didn't have parties to "boost morale". We didn't have quiz nights. We didn't have champagne. We watched our colleagues die. We watched the bodies pile high in their thousands. These lying, cheating, self-serving charlatans need to be flung out of office. Use your vote. Vote.

I learnt this weekend that lithium batteries can explode without even being plugged in. 😱 My sisters e-bike battery exploded & set fire to house. Lucky for firefighters fast attendance & no-one in room when it went off. Passing on as will review where I store mine from now on.

I was reminded this week of the importance of taking care when interpreting subgroup analysis in clinical trials and especially the helpful role the #ICEMAN tool can play in this regard. 1/8 #MethodologyMonday #95

A couple of years ago I thought it might be fun to start the week with a tweet about some aspect of trial, or related, methodology - tagged #MethodologyMonday. 100 topics later, I hope you have found some of them useful. Here is a list of the topics so far 1/2

Paper #7 in our BMC Trials special series looks at public opinion on terminology used to describe #AdverseEvents & how these outcomes are communicated in the scientific literature & public facing material on medications. rdcu.be/dSwEa

Rachel Phillips (@rachpips) 's Twitter Profile Photo

We found some surprising results ⬇️ 1. Whilst researchers have sought an agreement for a term for monitoring the potential harmful effects of interventions, public partners endorse the use of different terms for different situations.

Rachel Phillips (@rachpips) 's Twitter Profile Photo

2. Contrary to the recent CONSORT Harms update our public partners preferred the use of ‘side‑effect’ and thought it was an appropriate term to use across all contexts and the use of ‘harm’ should be used to indicate more severe events. bmj.com/content/381/bm…

That's a wrap on our National Institute for Health and Care Research NIHR Research Support Service (RSS) internships! It's been a delight to host enthusiastic, engaged undergrads ImperialCTU. We hope they've learnt lots about clinical trials & what a research career looks like. We're excited to see what the future holds for them all 🌟
