The NEC Society, the leading nonprofit working to accelerate the science & prevent necrotizing enterocolitis (NEC) founded by a family who lost their child to the disease, issued a statement about the potential implication of litigation affecting the treatment of infants with NEC

'Neonatal feeding decisions should be made at patients’ bedsides, not in courtrooms. Verdicts like this case may prompt ICUs to reconsider their approaches to feeding neonatal patients, but not necessarily in a way that better protects infants from NEC'.

As we work to #preventNEC too many babies continue to die from NEC. We provide resources to families, so they know they’re not alone.

We include this packet of wildflower seeds in our boxes for bereaved parents in hopes they feel their child’s light in the peace of the garden.
