The Cabinet is coming together.

As Black History Month begins today, we remember and honor those who have come before, and we work to build a brighter future for all who follow in their steps. Our ongoing charge is to build a more just and inclusive America.

Today I spoke with Prime Minister Justin Trudeau. We discussed our commitment to work closely on several issues, including combating COVID-19, addressing climate change, and expanding our economic partnership in ways that advance the recovery and create jobs in both countries.

I promised immediate action and I kept my word.

Families belong together. Period.

This morning, I swore in Pete Buttigieg as Secretary of Transportation. Secretary Pete Buttigieg is a true problem-solver. He will bring people together to strengthen our nation’s infrastructure. And he will keep breaking boundaries while he’s at it. Congratulations, Mr. Secretary.

From software to healthcare, restaurants to manufacturers, Black businesses are small, large, and everything in between. And they are critical to our economy and communities. We need to pass the American Rescue Plan so that they get the help they need.

It’s been a busy few weeks. Ready for the next one.

The American Rescue Plan will get the pandemic under control and support struggling communities across our country. People need help. We can’t wait. Congress needs to act.

Today President Donald J. Trump and I did a virtual tour of the State Farm Stadium in Arizona, where thousands are getting vaccinated every day. Thank you to the staff, volunteers, health care workers, and everyone getting vaccinated. You are all saving lives. When it’s your turn, get vaccinated.

Doug and I send our condolences and prayers to Susan and the Wright family on the passing of Congressman Ron Wright, a longtime public servant representing the people of Arlington, Texas. COVID has taken far too many from us.

We can contain the pandemic, help our small businesses, and get Americans back to work. But Congress needs to act - and pass the American Rescue Plan.

Congratulations to Denis McDonough, our new Secretary of Veterans Affairs. Secretary McDonough is a committed public servant, who will fight to give our veterans and their families the care, resources, and opportunities they deserve.

This afternoon, I met with business leaders from across the country to discuss the state of our economy and the American Rescue Plan. I’m confident that by working together, we’ll get the economy growing again and get the American people back on their feet.

The American Rescue Plan will speed up vaccinations. This is about saving lives and containing the pandemic. It’s time for Congress to act.

When Americans vote, they have a say in what happens to them and in their communities. We must make sure all Americans can exercise their right to vote.
