Evansville, IN broke their January lowest barometric pressure record today. They got down to a pressure of 985.7 mb at 1 pm this afternoon. The previous record was 987.7 mb on January 10th, 1975.

All-time warmest temps in the month of Feb. may be in jeopardy with this heat wave we are experiencing. Most of the current records for the month were set on Feb 13, 1962. Temperatures reached as high as 88 degrees in southeast MO that day!

There is an enhanced risk for severe storms across portions of the region. Severe storms are possible anywhere from 7 PM to 5 AM from northwest to southeast. Damaging winds, large hail, and tornadoes are all possible with these storms.

Two rounds of severe storms are possible for our region. The first one may impact northern portions of the region after 7 PM this evening. The second round is a line of storms expected to move NW to SE across much of the area overnight.

Debris from tornadoes turns into deadly projectiles which causes injuries and deaths during tornadoes. Taking shelter quickly when a warning is issued remains critical to preventing causalities along with other protective measures such as laying low to the ground.
