What normally happens when a public official retaliates against a witness who testified about the public official’s criminal conduct is that the public official goes to prison.

I have far less sympathy for Sondland than I do for the Vindmans. But if Donald J. Trump is trying to make his administration look like a criminal enterprise, he’s doing a terrific job of it today.

Those who retaliate against witnesses for testifying about criminal conduct belong in the big house not the White House.
