Better known as "Thrawn McEwok". Sithposting on sci-fi, occasional remarks on other things. Once co-wrote a Star Wars book, but that doesn't count for anything!

I enjoy ANDOR for a lot of reasons, but I'm not persuaded by the show's political ideas. The ending managed to recontextualise Luthen and Mon in ways that managed to answer a lot of my specific criticisms, but it still doesn't make the wider Rebellion seem even vaguely competent.

“What are your honest opinions on Master Logray?” See? It’s 10 times better when it’s not generic questions! He’s an interesting character with a unique view of the force!

The senator for Chandrilla? She might be right, but I wouldn't follow her into a conga. Galadriel (Rings of Power edition), on the other hand? I think she's crazy, but I'd still sign up for one of her crusades...

What provoked me into going public as a TRoP fan? The bewildered discovery that there's a Galadriel/Celeborn fandom - I guess Legolas/f!OC is too action-oriented for some people...

Ewan McGregor and Ray Park performed the lightsaber duel in The Phantom Menace with such speed and precision, the crew had to overcrank the camera just to slow it down for the final cut.

I think it's important to realise that this doesn't mean what we think it means - some Hollywood types are more comfortable with ANDOR's hoo-rah than they are with the grown-up and reflective parts of AHSOKA - and continuity is something that actively frightens them...

This is missing the point - those comments relate to the 2012 version, which had passed through a writer's room led by Michael Arndt. What we really need is the purported Linda Morris / Vic Rauseo first draft from the 1990s...

Hang on, that looks a lot like the Mon Cal light cruiser from 1994's TIE Fighter computer game, finessed with a "scaled-down Rendili Dreadnaught" vibe, all perhaps mediated through Doug Chiang's pre-TPM work on the Essential Guide to Vehicles and Vessels?! starwars.fandom.com/wiki/MC40a_lig…

We don’t talk about Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows enough. Stylish, sharp, and endlessly fun. Ritchie, Downey Jr., and Law in top form. It’s a shame we never got the sequel.

That's not the way the Force works. The criticism is that while the heroes of ANH and TPM were already great pilots, the only things she has any training at are salvaging, ship repair and quarterstaff fighting.

Star Wars from Anakin's perspective is genuinely insane to realize. Are we even sure Mace was particularly prickly about Anakin in any noticeable way? Did Mace really say, "Take a seat young skywalker" in a condescending way, or did he actually offer him a seat. Much to think on
