Jade used her Victim's Right to Review the decision not to prosecute her attacker & appealed it to CPS Head Office who agreed with her-very important support for her claim. Anybody who disagrees when CPS try to drop their case, act quickly & do the same-how to do it is online.

CPS must never again rush to court to get an irreversible acquittal, before a Victim's Right to Review has been decided. Not only does It gives immunity to a defendant who perhaps should be prosecuted, but shows disregard & disrespect for victims rights, which risks future trust

When CPS decide to drop a case, they rush to get a Court to acquit, so the defendant can NEVER be prosecuted for it. This ignores the victim's right to review their decision. So, they have given Jade's attacker immunity from prosecution, though he may have raped her.

In Opposition we called for urgent action to deliver compensation for victims of the Infected Blood Scandal. In Government I am determined that we act. Today we are announcing details for the Scheme - after listening to victims. I pay tribute to all those who have campaigned.

'What you are running here is not a factory, it is a zoo. But in a zoo, there are many types of animals. Some are monkeys, who dance on your fingertips. Others are lions, who can bite your head off. We are the lions, Mr Manager.' The Grunwick strike began on this day in 1976.

Vera Baird DBE KC highlights a crucial issue: the need to reform the Victims' Right to Review. Victims deserve a system that supports them, not one that fails them. It's time for change, whether through the CPS or new legislation. We must push for a more robust VRR process.

Welcome as Stephen Parkinson is as DPP, his defence in today's Times, of 'brisk' riot prosecutions, saying rape & DV cases are complex & take longer 2 build, forgets that 00s of fully prepared rape cases have been in the Crown Court backlog for yrs Time to deal with them briskly

HMIC inspect Soteria,THE model way to investigate rape, & frankly, the only hope that police will ever get sex offences right. Tories tried to make police PAY to adopt Soteria & said they had rolled it out everywhere, in 2023. Turns out its in 19 forces, using untrained staff

'In half the forces we inspected Rape & Sexual Assault personnel are routinely diverted to supporting events such as football matches & festivals' - HMICFRS reports today. Was it last week police told us they saw Violence against women and girls as a national emergency?

Though tiny numbers, the worry is sex offenders getting Community Resolutions at all. No record kept, could be repeats, small offences are often undervalued by police but can lead to worse ones Figures themselves are worrying for violence: CRs up from 30K to 45K since 2019

Yes. Burglars know someone is investigating & get that bit worried. And police crime prevention advice can boost security, leading to better victim protection. Renewing neighbourhood policing should make all of this standard & new Labour Govt has pledged to do just that

Only 83 spaces in male prisons today. Govt is doing well but, soon, needs to think less about letting prisoners out & more on not sending them in. A presumption to suspend sentences <12 months, which often do more harm than good, could start a good process.
