17,7500 police & PCSOs were hired without in-person interviews, up to mid-2023, says the Sun - a hangover from covid times. Angiolini blamed bad vetting for the evil cops. What further checks will be made now on those recruited that way?

Crown Court backlog at its highest ever, at March 31st 2024. Clearly continuing to get worse & worse. Bad for victims; bad for defendants & hopeless for public confidence. Time for a hard re-think (and a General Election). thanks Russell Webster ✍️ for data

The 'new law' has no purpose,
BUT could encourage victims to report to police even when men have paid them off.
BUT its not retrospective, so no help for victims of e.g Green.
REAL answer is a ban on NDAs in sex abuse & harassment cases.
Victims need support not silencing

Non-disclosure agreements are unenforceable NOW if they conceal crime.
In 2019, P Mordaunt announced: NDAs in plain English; Independent legal advice; 'enforcement' for NDAs that break the law. gov.uk/government/new…
They did none of it then & are doing absolutely zero today

Of course, because with terribly depleted neighbourhood policing, they feel safe to commit crime at any time of day

Domestic abuse services are struggling to meet need since the pandemic and the cost of living crisis.

We must quit lurching from crisis to crisis and establish sustainable funding through the Victims Bill.

Thank you Reeta Chakrabarti for this important story on lifesaving services.
