This is crazy. Biden lost non-college educated voters by 4 percent, which was a big sign of class dealignment. Now Harris is set to lose them by 17 percent. She might win in 2024 with an anti-Trump professional base but whatโ€™s going to happen in 2028 and 2032?

This is a strange view. In the early years of the revolution, the Bolsheviks rightfully opposed the Orthodox Church for its political ties. Even religious peasants disliked the church, as it strongly supported Tsarism and owned a lot of Russian land.

I want to do a quick post about this sneaky rhetorical tactic, because it's quite clever. Haz's actual argument, if presented as a valid syllogism, reads as follows: Premise 1: No AES country ever had a policy of open borders. Premise 2: The U.S. should only adopt border

People be reinventing early Christianity (down to the millenarian "destroy everything as it currently exists to usher in the world to come") and pass off their obvious eschatological standpoint as "the real movement".

Thereโ€™s been such a massive shift in the way that we behave, our interests, our hobbies, and how we spend our time that it is genuinely a bit scary. I mean, 20 years ago if someone just stayed home all the time, had no friends, no interests, no hobbies they were considered weird.

The Marxist position on immigration is that we need to incorporate the fight for undocumented workers into the broader working class struggle. Only through the combined efforts of undocumented workers and the rest of the working class can we improve the lives of all workers.

Spreading lies about migrants eating cats that could lead to hate crimes is indeed bad. Spreading lies about Saddam planning to give WMDs to Al Queda that punched a hole in the Middle East and led to spiraling waves of death and destruction for many years? Perhaps a bit worse.

This terrifies me & makes me so depressed. I work hard to make it not true of myself but I still see it everywhere & feel it in my own life. Maybe the pandemic just accelerated trends already going on, but definitely feels like a big turning point we havenโ€™t really recovered from

Laskiโ€™s book The Rise of European Liberalism is excellent and he was also hugely influential on JFK and the Kennedys. He was more of a Fabian socialist than a Marxist from what I recollect but I look forward to reading this book.

Incredibly funny that both NAFO and Groypers did assassination attempts against Trump. The Marxist tradition of being against stochastic terrorism keeps winning.

"Restrict labor supply through immigration controls to raise working-class wages" is an awful, cynical position. It's a frank admission that the working class is incapable of raising their own wages through either productivity or labor organizing, it's become a zero-sum game.
