Data published by the Union GOVT on direct taxes is raw and NOT normalized. Drawing conclusions from raw data would lead to misinterpretation. Raw data shows Maharashtra receives ₹7.7 for every ₹100 of direct taxes it pays to the Union GOVT, and this is a misleading figure.
