The Post shouldn’t be intimidated into changing an accurate headline. Creating a process by which federal occupation can continues and work closely with local IS welcoming them. Not to mention her press conf lavishing praise on their work to reduce crime. She IS a collaborator.

"It’s shameful that Mayor Bowser is willingly overriding the will of DC residents and eroding our right to self-governance," said DCFPI Executive Director Erica Williams Read our full statement here: loom.ly/wvaqKWk

Truly distressed by the mayor choosing to maximize cooperation with federal law enforcement in this moment where Black, brown, and immigrant residents and our ability to self-govern are in the cross-hairs. Our statement below. #freedc dcfpi.org/press-releases…

With this executive order, the Mayor doesn’t speak for me and doesn’t speak for the vast majority of the residents of the District of Columbia. Her EO turns its back on all of us who are proud to call DC home and who disdain a militarized federal law enforcement presence.

We are suing to defend DC home rule and stop the unlawful deployment of the National Guard. Our nation was founded on the fundamental principles of freedom and self-governance that are stake in this case. No city in America should be subject to involuntary military occupation.

This tracks with alarming data showing visits to downtown have fallen by nearly 20% - or 16,400 fewer visits a day - from where it was before Trump takeover. I hear same in neighborhood corridors. Trump's occupation is killing the local economy, same as he’s doing nationally.

This week's takeover update from Martin Austermuhle: ⭕ MPD: Back to local control? ⭕ Federal agents: Still around ⭕ National Guard: Still around, but for how long? ⭕ Congress: Taking a big whack at D.C.'s laws ⭕ A big weekend protest planned 51st.news/dc-takeover-wh…

The House member who wants to let Trump appoint D.C.'s attorney general (currently elected by residents) mistakenly says it was the city's AG who didn't prosecute two-thirds of arrests in D.C. That was actually the U.S. Attorney for D.C. – who *is* appointed by the president.

A friend told me on Friday ICE, along with MPD, was literally stopping every Latino male exiting the Ft Totten station. DC cannot submit to this for 3 and a half more years. He cannot take home rule legally without 60 votes. Appeasement has invited more terror. Time to fight.

Councilmember Nadeau has been a progressive leader on early childhood education, affordable housing, and an ally to the migrant community here in the District. As a Ward 1 resident, I’m excited to see who she will endorse for the 2026 Democratic Primary!

For as much as some members of Congress say the D.C. government is dysfunctional and should be disbanded, it's worth noting that the D.C. government will open and operate normally tomorrow because elected officials can do stuff like, you know, pass annual budgets.

This week I joined the Howard University School of Social Work’s 90th Anniversary Celebration and a Delta Sigma Theta alumni meeting. Both reminded me of the power of community and how far I’ve come since that class graduation photo! Grateful for the journey. 💙🤍💙#BisonPride🦬
