Very sad news about the passing of Qiu Xigui, one of the most creative, meticulous and kind specialists in Chinese paleography, ancient history, pre-Qin philology and archaeology, a true giant of the Early China field. 大雅云亡, 絕學千秋. R.i.p! mp.weixin.qq.com/s/pc7bE3uwC_fg…

A great exhibition on Gandharan Buddhist art at the Art and Archeology Museum, Zhejiang University. I was especially happy to see one of the notebooks with manuscript fragments from the Otani expedition. Did not realize how big these notebooks were.

Just received a copy of my colleague Prof. Zhang Yongquan’s new work on piecing together manuscript fragments from Dunhuang. An amazing accomplishment, can’t wait to work myself through the two volumes.
