A big thanks to Professor Susan Fortney, Dean Bobby Ahdieh, and the law students of Texas A&M School of Law for inviting me to speak about the importance of public service and the value of federal prosecutors in our society.

Today, a magistrate judge ordered Billie Joe Sanford released pending trial. Allowing this #humantrafficking defendant back on the streets is not something we can accept without appealing. justice.gov/usao-ndtx/pr/m…

We are thankful that Andrew Beard was ordered detained pending trial. A magistrate judge found that he poses a continued danger to the community. We applaud this decision on behalf of the family and the community. justice.gov/usao-ndtx/pr/a…

26 years ago, I was a law student working as an extern in the U.S. Attorney's Office. 21 years ago, I had the privilege to fulfill a dream of becoming a federal prosecutor. 3 years ago today, I was honored to be sworn in as U.S. Attorney for the Northern District of Texas.

Our hearts are broken over by the recent death of Dallas Police Dept Sgt. Bronc McCoy. As the father of two, Bronc dedicated over 20 years of #lawenforcement service to the citizens of the @CityofDallas. Please keep his family in your thoughts and prayers. nbcdfw.com/news/local/dal…

Too many Americans have fallen victim to the violence of MS-13. Their despicable motto says it all: ‘kill, rob, rape, control.’ I am proud of our #lawenforcement partners & their commitment to keeping our streets safe by putting this criminal behind bars. justice.gov/usao-ndtx/pr/f…

This weekend, we charged a Michigan man with transporting a minor to commit a sex crime.  We are grateful to the Lubbock Police Dept. SVU, FBI Dallas, & Michigan State Police SWAT, who deftly apprehended the defendant and returned the child to her family. justice.gov/usao-ndtx/pr/m…

For me, #Thanksgiving is a time of reflection and gratitude. As families and loved ones across the nation gather this year, we pause to reflect on our countless blessings even in the face of a year filled with hardships and challenges. I wish everyone a Happy Thanksgiving.

We know that domestic violence abusers with a gun in the home are 5X more likely to kill their partners than those who don’t have access to a gun. I joined OVW's Patchwork podcast to discuss how U.S. Attorneys are bringing armed abusers to justice. buzzsprout.com/1196888/673840…

Forcibly storming a government building is a reprehensible betrayal of the rule of law. Those who committed violence in Washington today are anarchists, not patriots. They should prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law.

The misleading statements & omissions by Boeing to the FAA impeded the government’s ability to ensure the safety of the flying public. This case should send a clear message: U.S. Department of Justice will hold all manufacturers accountable for defrauding regulators. justice.gov/usao-ndtx/pr/b…
