As the United Nations International Decade for People of African Descent comes to a close, the United States continues to value the critical importance of recognition, justice, and development for people of African descent around the world.



Great to be in beautiful San Diego for the World Design Capital Forum! But first, I met with students from the UCSD School of Global Policy and Strategy. We talked about global human rights issues and career opportunities with Department of State. The future of diplomacy is bright! ๐


It was a pleasure to meet with San Diego Mayor Todd Gloria on shared priorities and how local governments can lead global efforts to protect the human rights of members of marginalized racial, ethnic, and Indigenous communities for the benefit of all citizens.
