Mistral just open-sourced a text-to-speech model that beats ElevenLabs. 3 GB of RAM. Runs locally. Free. The thing people were paying per-word for last year runs on your laptop now.

People and companies need to realize this, with this new development paradigm the code does not come included with the developer anymore, there is a third party provider you’ll have to pay. It’s like having to pay for each key press. The provider decides the price. The provider

Maybe it’s just me, but if I had to choose, I would prefer models with additional training for better code and architecture quality instead of models with a few more points in some wacky SWE benchmark. We can discuss about how to measure it.

We made Muon run up to 2x faster for free! Introducing Gram Newton-Schulz: a mathematically equivalent but computationally faster Newton-Schulz algorithm for polar decomposition. Gram Newton-Schulz rewrites Newton-Schulz such that instead of iterating on the expensive

🚨📄 New preprint! We find the “boiling the frog” equivalent of AI use. In a series of RCTs, we show that after just 10 min of AI assistance people perform worse and give up more often than those who never used AI. w Grace Liu Brian Christian Mira Dumbalska and Rachit Dubey 🧵

i trained Llama 2 on a $5 computer with less processing power than a thermostat. it’s called 🥧 PiTorch: an ML library for Raspberry Pi Zeros. i cover how to make it from scratch, from writing assembly GPU kernels to sending bytes over wires. (no hardware background needed!)

Imagine every pixel on your screen, streamed live directly from a model. No HTML, no layout engine, no code. Just exactly what you want to see. 𝖊𝖉𝖉𝖎𝖊 𝖏𝖎𝖆𝖔, Drew and I built a prototype to see how this could actually work, and set out to make it real. We're calling it

Sci-Hub is an evil website that pirated 85M+ research papers and made them freely available And now they've added AI to their database to make Sci-Bot. It answers your questions using latest, full-text articles. But DO NOT use it. We should all try to make billion-dollar
