A spectacular day at the Aschensee almabtrieb. Every year the cattle are marched down from their summer grazing up in the mountains to lower ground for the winter. If none of the animals have come to any harm the herd is decorated with fancy garlands for the walk home.

🇦🇹 Stumbled upon this alpine dairy at 1850 meters in the Austrian alps. The cattle have headed down to the valley bottom for the winter now.

Tough few days of fieldwork Wild Haweswater in the crazy British weather. Moth numbers were high in the traps on Wednesday ☀️ but much lower on Thursday 🌧🌬. A relief to finally see invert numbers picking up though.
