Well done, University of Helsinki for fully suspending all your university-level exchange activities with your Israeli partners 👏👏 #BDS

So this has happened: The University of Barcelona breaks all academic ties with Israel & calls on the EU to put into effect an academic boycott of Israeli institutions, among other measures.

The International Court of Justice (ICJ) has ordered Israel to ‘halt its military offensive’ to protect Palestinians from further genocidal violence. This order must now be implemented. (thread) x.com/BBCBreaking/st…

🚨 Major BDS Victory – Anti-Boycott Bill defeated We are delighted to announce the government’s toxic anti-boycott bill has been defeated. They tried to shut down campaigns against Israel’s violations of Palestinian rights. They failed. Our right to boycott campaign has won!

ACTION: Join our boycott of UoM's Bicentennary celebrations. The Manchester Camp of Resistance for Palestine calls on all staff, students and community to boycott so long as the University refuses to cut ties with murderous entities like BAE Systems.

How was Isr. able to starve 2.3 million Palestinians in Gaza at unprecedented speed and intensity? I answer this question in my new report. I'll be discussing my report with the United Nations General Assembly on Friday, October 18. undocs.org/a/79/171 Here's a 🧵...

Michael Fakhri (@michaelfakhri) 's Twitter Profile Photo

This didn’t start in October. Isr. started restricting goods into Gaza in 1991. Imposed full blockade in 2000. Military siege in 2005. The Isr. Ministry of Health measured incoming calories to ensure that people Gaza stayed hungry enough not to trigger a humanitarian crisis /2

Michael Fakhri (@michaelfakhri) 's Twitter Profile Photo

It’s not just Gaza. And it’s not just restricting goods + humanitarian aid. Isr. has been destroying the Palestinian food system for 70+ years. Destroying orchards & farms. Harassing/ killing peasants, fishers & shepherds. Here's what's @ stake: ohchr.org/sites/default/… /3

Michael Fakhri (@michaelfakhri) 's Twitter Profile Photo

In Gaza, malnutrition, famine, and disease are killing more people than bombs and bullets. This personal and social trauma is going to be carried by Palestinians for several generations in the future. /4

Michael Fakhri (@michaelfakhri) 's Twitter Profile Photo

Why is this happening? This about land. In 2023, Isr. seized more Palestinian land than in any given year in the past 30 yrs. Isr. wants to erase the Palestinians from their homeland + territory and deny them their right to return to Palestine. /5

Michael Fakhri (@michaelfakhri) 's Twitter Profile Photo

What can be done now? Ceasefire now. All countries have a duty to end the starvation and genocide. Countries and corps. supplying Isr. with money and weapons are complicit. Other countries should impose economic, political and cultural sanctions. Institutions should divest. /6

Michael Fakhri (@michaelfakhri) 's Twitter Profile Photo

What can be done for the future of Palestinians? Any discussion about 1-state, 2-state or whatever political configuration must prioritize two things: -the Palestinian people’s right to return to Palestine; and - the full realization of their human rights and dignity. /7

Risk of starvation is increasing everywhere. In Sudan, the largest number of people in the world are facing starvation: 23+ million. Starvation is always deliberate, internat'l, structural and long-lasting. Read more to learn about what can be done: undocs.org/a/79/171 /end

Grateful to UN Special Rapporteur on the Right to Food, Professor Michael Fakhri, for his impressive research and reconstruction of how Israel managed to cause starvation in Gaza.

Israel is an apartheid state committing genocide, but University of Manchester wants to provide 'nuanced' understanding of the 'conflict' by debating 'is antizionism antisemitism'? The misdirection is off the scale🤮manchester.ac.uk/about/news/is-…
