Recently, I spent a month at The Mars Society's MDRS Analog research station. The 2 crews taught me a lot about research, living on Mars, myself, and my own work and how I could conduct it on Mars. I'm super grateful to have been supported by The Mars Society and marssocietyaustralia

1/3 Earlier this year, geoconservationist and Australian Centre for Astrobiology PhD candidate @clarefletcher42 spent four weeks living and working at the Mars Desert Research Station in Utah. This remote station provides scientists with a “testing ground” for identifying evidence of early life.

1/2 New research co-authored by UNSW A/Prof. Tim Barrows (Prof Tim Barrows) has produced a real-world-scale model of 5 Antarctic glaciers based on archival film photographs. This model has been used to estimate the glacier ice lost after the 2002 collapse of the Larsen B Ice Shelf.

2/2 The study used nearly 1,000 photographs from 1968 to 2001. Comparing the visualisation of the glaciers then to observations now, the research estimates 35 billion tons of glacier ice was lost following the Larsen B Ice Shelf collapse. Read more here: unsw.edu.au/newsroom/news/…
