1500 players and their families over 2 days… hockey and rugby, valuable experience for our SRT year 2 students dealing with injuries, emergency action planning and generally experiencing being part of a wider team in a fast paced environment, both in and off the pitch.

Busy busy! Friday, National Bone and Joint Day, today we welcomed prospective students to our open day and tomorrow our 2nd & 3rd year students will be talking all things anatomy at The Fire Station, Sunderland, looking at how important strong muscles are for general health 💪😅

A throw back from World Anatomy Day two weeks ago. 2nd & 3rd year SRTs got involved in testing everyone’s hand grip in different activities 💪🏻📝

Our first year students are diving into gait analysis as part of their MSK module! From breaking down the phases of gait to practicing live observations, they’re learning how to spot the subtle signs of MSK conditions and understand how injuries impact movement. 🦵🔍

I’ve teamed up with foot & ankle specialist Liz Bayley to create 4 strengthening programmes for Plantar Heel Pain. 3 are based on Osborne et al. (2023) and 1 is our own ‘LiTHE’ programme. There’s lots to consider with these exercises which we’ll explore in this thread 🧵

It’s been a busy few weeks packed with activities such as advanced rehabilitation skills, pain workshops, cardiopulmonary, & exploring pathology physiology.💪🩺 As we approach the end of term, we’re reflecting on the progress made & the knowledge gained. Well done SRT students!

Our first year students had an amazing Interprofessional Learning Day, collaborating with physiotherapists, social workers, nurses, and occupational therapists! They examined their professional identity, scope of practice and compared their professional roles in practice.
