Large scale system change is far more likely to happen if we connect up existing networks, campaigns, communities, activists and social movements around common goals than if we try to spread change from the centre/top of the system. Those connections typically don't happen on

Five principles for developing improvement approaches across a system that create the conditions for effective and sustainable change: 1) Define scope and goals together. 2) Build relationships and trust. 3) See diverse expertise as an asset. 4) Develop shared system leadership.

Great chat with Catherine Davies this morning about recent champion training. Powys Teaching Health Board have opened it up to EVERY department so this week they trained a doctor, dentist, ward staff, local authority social care staff, IAS, and a RN from a local nursing home. This is awesome ♥️🧡💚

One great outcome of sharing the Champion training with a nurse from a care home was that they left with our laminated logos to use with their residents with learning disabilities. This raises the profile outside of the hospital setting! #makeadifference #PRFlogo Catherine Davies

Often, as leaders, we get cast in the role of "experts". It can be affirming & powerful as we become the "go-to" people for knowledge & advice. The problem is that being more "expert" means being less "explorer". Experts learn less and help other people less on their journeys.

Another post about the difference between thinking like an "expert" & an "explorer". An expert starts from a place of knowing a lot about the topic ("expertise"). That leads to conviction about the right thing to do, confirmation & desirability bias & validation of the current

When Paul died there were only 2 acute liaison nurses within the NHS in Wales and part of our campaigning has always been to increase the number of nurses in this sector, but also to make sure that they are valued in their roles. There are now 20 nurses ❤️🧡💚 #LDNurseDay

In health & care, we often focus on a narrow concept of improving "staff experience", when we could be building a much deeper & more profound basis of human connection at work: a sense of belonging. Belonging is when an employee, regardless of their background or role, knows that
