Both my Grandfathers felt ‘forgotten’ in the British forces. One, a Sapper of the Forgotten Army in Burma. Another patrolling the North Sea in RAF ASR. So many across the globe contributed to the war effort from Palestinian to Naga Pioneer Coys. To the forgotten on #VEDay80

A thoroughly enjoyable telling of the professional soldier Stanley Henshaw on WW2TV Paul Woodadge Honoured to get a name check from the great Dr Philip W Blood too. This video hints at the impossible jungle topography where Stan earned his MM on May 1 1944. youtu.be/PIMbYYslhho?si…

It’s not everyday I get to say that I’m following the great Al Murray 🇺🇦 on the billing, but it has certainly upped the ante for my REHS webinar on August 14! 😰 #FollowTheSapper

This is a beautiful thing by The Kohima Educational Trust marking #VJDay80. So grateful to honour my Grandpa in a few words (p.104-108) & remember all who sacrificed so much. kohimaeducationaltrust.net/book-of-rememb…

Today is #VJDay80 & I turn to the memory of my two grandfathers who both served in #Burma. One, a #Sapper served in #WW1 & in #WW2 & finished as CRE SEAC. The other, a career soldier, survived Dunkirk to then go through the ranks & commission into Indian Army. Both remembered.

Remembering my Grandpa & the ‘fine fellows’ he lost along the way serving King & Country in the Far East. After 38 months in India & Burma his VJ Day passed with little fanfare as he helped dismantle camps & rebuild German infrastructure. Life went on for the living. #VJDay80
