If any podcasters want to talk about Sword Beach in the coming months, I’m very happy to. And being a combined operation, there’s something for everyone.

Well, except gastronomical podcasts. I may struggle there.

HMS Medusa. I’m torn between HDML 1387 (as she was in the war) and MGB 81 for my favourite Coastal Forces boat, but since Medusa is a real time capsule (never been restored, never needed it) she has a special place in my heart.

A dramatic scene from as men from 4 Commando pursue a DD tank of B Squadron 13/18 Hussars into Ouistreham. As they advanced for more than a mile down the straight and exposed Route de Lion they were increasingly targeted by mortars and snipers. 📷 IWM MH2011

HMS Serapis was an S class destroyer in the 23rd Flotilla, part of Force S at Sword Beach, which she bombarded ahead of the landings.

She was not in any way, shape or form a minesweeper.
