Sunday Binge - Started TheHistoryOfTheAmericans with (slightly tweaked) Episode One this morning during our North Padre power outage. The skies have cleared and Columbus is headed home. Good stuff, Jack!

Yeah. It kinda is. If it’s not a knock on race (and racist) why mention race? Again, if he was Hispanic, would you have mentioned it? It’s also ageist af but I think you knew that.

When you point out the DEI bureaucrats don’t help anyone but themselves and a good many of that class are white, people truly bring their A-games. Good hustle, y’all.

Remember, kids, folks who tell you that all of life is power, suppression, repression etc. are giving you the gospels of their peculiar religion and cannot be swayed.

THC removed modern polemics from state historic sites. If you think Fanon and Kendi tell the story of Brazoria County, you’re high.

We discussed Berry’s book during the interview. I’ll play it back in a bit. I think we both used the words “dense prose” when touching on it and books like it. We also discussed, at length, the WPA narratives and their value.

Per staff in Brazoria 20 minutes ago, WPA slave narratives are still sold. They’re waiting on a restock. Guess it pays to ask rather than assume, no Texas Monthly? Good mix of Texas history, slavery and Reconstruction at Varner now. Pics coming.

“Denies having been angered” 😂 Nah. I objected to your portraying me as incensed & outraged, and pretending you can read minds.

I sent a response that quoted extensively from my recording of our interview, not a complaint. I was asked to provide the statement by your editor. Can’t imagine why this isn’t going into print edition!

Twitter isn’t real life, Ben. Many of us don’t prefer this medium. When you can get 50k views on a video or reach that many folks with every email, then you can talk to me about earned attention. Kudos on that $35k grant to send tweets that get no engagement, btw. Bravo!

Critical pedagogy/literacy, aimed at turning Texas kids into little activists, is a staple in Texas ed colleges. There’s a lot of unpack in this article.

@ashleyruba_phd Not all PhDs are created equal. A doctorate in gender studies requires no special ability and has no practical applications, which is why it typically leads to unemployment. If you want a six-figure salary, acquire a skillset that employers would pay six figures for.

Can anyone point me to ACLU outcry on behalf of suspended accounts, big and small, journo and non, from 2016 to 2023? Serious question.
