We've had some questions from English speakers about road construction over lava in Iceland. This is Grindavíkurvegur, the road to the town of Grindavík, the Svartsengi power plant and the Blue Lagoon. Lava has flowed over this road three times.

Lava flow update from the ongoing volcanic eruption on the Reykjanes Peninsula in Iceland as published by Veðurstofa Íslands / Icelandic Met Office. The orange color shows the lava spread at 1:55 am on March 17. The red color shows the spread at 14:56 on the same day, covering 5.85 sq km yesterday afternoon.

The ongoing #earthquake swarm is clearly visible at the Cambridge Volcano Seismology station installed on Sylingarfell, which was moved uphill last week to a safer position, behind the barrier wall.

Evacuations have started as an imminent volcanic eruption is expected near #Grindavik according to Veðurstofa Íslands / Icelandic Met Office. This comes following an earthquake swarm that started at 16:00GMT. No sign of magma reaching surface yet.

A dike intrusion is underway again at Sundhnúksgígar - almost exactly on time according to the Veðurstofa Íslands / Icelandic Met Office forecast.
