First part of this year’s Cape Clear Bird Obs Lesser Black-backed Gull project and although positive in no signs of #BirdFlu, populations on two of the islands are much reduced with just 35 chicks ringed along with 4 Herring Gull and 3 Great Black-backed BirdWatch Ireland EURING

Starting with our first Swallow roost at Clogheen Marsh. c4k into roost catching 300 Swallow, 4 Sand Martin, a female Sparrowhawk, Long-eared Owl and Brown Long-eared Bat. A decent gap in bad weather yesterday meant the team could get out and ring another Raven nest in an abandoned towerhouse. The biggest brood of the year so far with 4 chicks.
