BYU played in the first live college football game on ESPN in 1984, and ESPN has enjoyed having BYU in its late-night windows for decades, and ESPN gave BYU a TV deal during independence…but this graphic from ESPN is indefensible at best and antagonistic at worst.

The committee made it abundantly clear it’s not merit based. The playoffs is just the cool kids club and BYU isn’t perceived as a cool kid. ND and the SEC are the cool kids. The whole thing is a sham

BYU has tied for 1st in a power conference in each of the last two seasons, and has been undervalued after both campaigns. Committee to BYU last year: if you had just avoided that second loss… Committee to BYU this year: if you had just avoided that first loss…

In a 12-game power-conference slate, BYU lost one game—to the No. 4 CFP team, on its home field. At one point in that game, BYU trailed 26-0. Not great, Bob. I get it. But to the committee, nothing else BYU did this season seems to matter. The disregard for data is despicable.

Jacob Rodriguez should be in New York for the Heisman Trophy Ceremony at a minimum.
