PSA: Pastors are not national security experts nor are they military strategists. In seminary, our practical theology professor often reminded us to not pretend to be experts in fields outside of our authority. Our jurisdiction is tied to the ministry of the word, not the world.

Unlike yours truly who reaches millions of people every day, real academics restrict their focus on publishing peer-reviewed papers that are read by at times 4 or 5 people (including the authors' moms). BTW, I'm not denigrating academic publications as I've spent 31+ years

If you take being a Baptist seriously, it entails a political theology: the separation of the civil and ecclesiastical powers (but a robust social action on second-table issues) and the integrity and liberty of individual conscience (within peaceable limits).
