The more I hear about large language model "hallucinations", the more I dislike this term being used to describe LLMs generating fake/false info. It 1) is misleading, 2) makes convos across fields confusing, and 3) borrows a term from clinical psych to make LLMs seem human-like.

Soo, ChatGPT, which is definitely not three stochastic parrots in a trench coat, is not only bad at coding but also really good at making people think that it's good at it. arxiv.org/abs/2308.02312

Worth paying attention to for those poor folks with a purchased Supreme Court. Remember that Hayek, Friedman, and Buchanan, among other *celebrated* “economic” astrology types, engaged in unethical human “economic” experimentation in Chile by way of the constitution.

Honestly, I think the angle in this nature editorial is a mistake. We can/should see through the LLM facade using theory (formal, computational, cognitive) and not to dissolve in further hyperempiricism that only gives false credibility to these decoys. psyarxiv.com/4cbuv

In short - Siskind is making the same choice Pinker does, to swallow rotten hereditarian pseudoscience and lazy thinking about intelligence, and engage in polite measured discourse that defends race and IQ researchers and keeps their debunked theories alive. The grift goes on.

Read this thread. Bunko garbage techbros and contemporary high acolytes of scientism confidently making claims about “intelligence” when not a single soul on the planet understands cognition. Grifters of Scientism.

For many reasons, this is the hardest time I've ever had covering a crisis on here. Credible links are now photos. On the ground news outlets struggle to reach audiences without an expensive blue checkmark. Xenophobic goons are boosted by the platform's CEO. End times, folks.

Propaganda appearing to step up, BBC seems to be fooled by a false flag event. This is distressing. Please remember that sharing propaganda incites violence elsewhere. Nobody needs this right now. Check your sources. Check dates. Ask yourself why you’re seeing it. Wait a little.

Very gradually over the last 20 years we all collectively decided that if you can do math or program a computer real good, then you must be smart enough to talk about things that do not involve doing math or programming a computer real good, and it's been downhill ever since.

Roth IRAs were intended to help average working Americans save, but IRS records show Thiel and other ultrawealthy investors have used them to amass vast untaxed fortunes. propublica.org/article/lord-o…

For the record, this is one idiot techbro *assumption* without a shred of research. It’s a false assumption, for anyone who actually reads research or does their homework. Shame on Khronos for propagating random techbro opinion, but we should expect nothing less.
