#StormBabet will bring heavy and disruptive rain from Wednesday onwards It will be widely unsettled, but parts of eastern Scotland and Northern Ireland are particularly forecast to see significant amounts of rain The below shows rolling rainfall totals over the coming week ⬇️

Hydrometry teams are still out capturing high flow data to corroborate fixed gauging station calculation and models. Early analysis is showing at least 170 gauging stations have seen their highest ever recorded levels… many of these station records are decades old.

#StormCiarán has been named and is forecast to bring very strong winds and heavy rain to southern parts of the UK on Wednesday night and into Thursday Stay #WeatherAware

Trevor Bond (@trevbondea) 's Twitter Profile Photo

One of the reasons we're worried about #StormCiarán is because of the loss of 'capacity' within the soil as a result of #StormBabet. This animation shows how the soil moisture deficit changed across England and Wales 10 days ago - the dark blues showing 'saturated' catchments

We’ve been training our newest hydrometrist on a recent visit to Beth Chatto’s Plants & Gardens in #Essex. A fascinating rainfall record - 129mm of rainfall this February vs 1.5mm in February 2023. A challenging climate for plants to survive but the gardens were pristine HydrometryEA
